Refugee Camp

Ever wondered how you would cope as an Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) field worker?

REFUGEE CAMP IN YOUR WORLD is an interactive experience which allows you to walk in the shoes of MSF field workers. What would you do if confronted with a cholera or measles epidemic, or an influx of 10,000 refugees fleeing conflict?

In August 2008, following a successful 13-year run in 13 countries around the globe, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Australia launched the first Australian tour of the free, outdoor event REFUGEE CAMP IN YOUR CITY.

A recreation of a refugee camp and its facilities, REFUGEE CAMP IN YOUR CITY aims to create a better understanding of the vulnerability of life for displaced people and refugees who have fled their homes. There are forty two million people throughout the world who are either refugees or internally displaced persons (IDPs) and have fled in search of safety from armed conflict.  At REFUGEE CAMP IN YOUR CITY, their experiences and everyday life are interpreted in free, guided tours led by MSF Australian returned field workers who have witnessed life in a refugee camp first-hand.

REFUGEE CAMP IN YOUR CITY has just closed for 2008. We thank the public of Brisbane, Sydney and Canberra for their warm and enthusiastic response. The event will re-tour next year, travelling to Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
